Recap: September 8-21 - It's Spoopy Time
New Are You Afraid of the Dark Trailer
Yeah, that’s pretty much the expression we made too when we found out that we were ACTUALLY getting the return of one of our favorite shows from our child hood. Let me tell ya, from the looks of this trailer, the Juggalos are going to be all over this one It seems as though the majority of this mini-series is going to be set in a spooooooky carnivalllll with eeeeeeevil clownsssss (certainly not an overused trope). The best we can hope for here, is that only a small part of this takes place at said carnival, and that the only reason the kids are there, is to re-tell the Zeebo the Clown story. That being said, it actually does look pretty decent, even if it’s using the same framing device that’s been used time and time again these past few years in the Goosebumps and Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark films. I guess we were really hoping for a return to form on this one, just a straight anthology, but we’re still interested in seeing what this new slew of episodes has to offer. You should check out the trailer below and form your own opinions!
Never Hike Alone Sequels
Zach just recently got up on his soapbox and proclaimed why you should all be taking note of Never Hike Alone - the Friday the 13th fan film that’s better than most ACTUAL Friday the 13th films. Well, this week we got some wonderful news - we’re getting 4 sequels! The first of which comes out next March and is tentatively entitled Never Hike In the Snow. Yes, we’re finally getting a winter time Jason movie, an idea that’s been on fan’s wish-lists for a very very long time. The fact that it’s coming from the team that brought us one of the very best iterations of the Jason character is even better! Currently, the sequels are being crowdfunded over on Indiegogo, and we urge you to donate so we can all see these films!
To hold you over, check out this music video by the Womp Stomp Films team, starring their menacing Ghost Hock Jason!
The Invisible Man Reboot Has Finished Filming
A small bit of news, but the reboot of Universal’s The Invisible Man has finished principal photography. The film is set to be a part of The Dark Universe films, a more modern take on the classic Universal Monsters franchise. The new film series is being produced by Blumhouse, the darlings of the modern horror scene, and we think it couldn’t be in better hands than the same studio that has produced the likes of Paranormal Activity, The Purge, Get Out, Insidious, and Split. There hasn’t been much to go off of yet for this film, but hopefully we’ll get a trailer soon, after some time in the editing room.
