It's Grimey Tree time, yet again! This is the 2nd annual Grimey Tree and, I don't know if it's just me or what, but I really wasn't sure how to top the last one (which you can find right here) and still don't think I honestly did. I could've just thrown Gremlins all over it again but then what the hell would I write about?

This years theme is McDonald's. If you aren't in the know, I'd like to introduce you all to the Merry Mcnuggets! I snagged a set of these guys a couple years ago but really didn't do much with them. I ended up grabbing another set this year and, although there are only 8 all together, they will help make any small cheap Goodwill tree a complete success.

So first off, here is the tree which is from Goodwill. It's pre-lit but I added some colored lights to it because plain white is boring. I also added some popcorn garland like last year as well as some gold tinsel garland to spruce it up a little.

Then we have the ornaments; these Merry McNuggets were part of a McMemories mail away promo for McDonald's back in 1996. I have no idea how many sets there are but there are a lot of them and I've only scratched the surface with the 8 I own. I've included a photo snatched from the internet that showcases most of them above but it's still missing the ever so elusive and down right expensive Santa and his reindeer set. Each set comes with 4 ornaments. There isn't a lot of information online about them, I'm not even sure if there was a commercial but I do know there was a holiday catalog which I missed out on last year floating around on eBay that included at least a few of them.

Anyways, we have a wreath boy, a reindeer, a Santa, an elf, a McNugget tangled in lights, a stocking boy, a snowman impersonator and even one doing his very best Clark Griswold impression. They all have specific names like "Lighting up the Holidays" and "Reindeer Can Fly" that come with a fancy certificate of authenticity but I like my names more. These pieces are pretty detailed and are slightly more cartoony than the Mcnugget Buddies toys you commonly received in Happy Meals. They're also a shit ton heavier. While I was hanging them in the tree, they were almost too heavy for the limbs to hold but I managed. A tornado could pass through and this tree with these 8 ornaments would still be left completely unscathed with all this weight.

I could throw some old Happy Meal Toys in the mix since the tree is fairly bare but I want to give the Merry McNuggets their time to shine. I don't see a lot of people talk about these and most don't seem to know they even exist; even I was surprised to see that the whole time I was collecting McNuggets there is an even bigger lineup of Christmas ones.
