HOLIDAY SNACKS 2021 PT 2

GRIMEY

We’re back with part 2 of holiday snacks 2021! If you missed the first batch, click here for the whole scoop. If you don’t really care to read part 1 then just continue forward. If you don’t really care to read part 2 then… well I don’t know why you’re here. Anyways…

MTN DEW GINGERBREAD SNAP'D

Mountain Dew is constantly pushing out new flavors; their latest... a citrus take on the holiday flavor gingerbread called Gingerbread Snap'd. I don't know if it's the little punk gingerbread men or the fact that it's a Christmas soda from Mountain Dew, this one just feels special. Not to mention, it has that great white hue that Voodew usually sports. It's breathtaking!

The smell is very faint; you have to really dig deep in there because the citrus overpowers any ginger by a ton. I noticed when I left it sit open for a min and the fizz went away, you could pick the smells up a little better. And yeah, it's gingerbread. I've tried it warm and cold now and somehow the gingerbread gets so lost in the mix for me. I do get a faint spice and the aftertaste gets a little more cinnamon/nutmeg/gingerbready but it's very faint.... which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I guess if we were going to try and make it palatable, less is more?

I don't care, it's still getting an 8 out of 10 from me. It's a cool addition to the Mtn Dew lineup and Christmas soda lineup as a whole.

GRINCH HERSHEY KISSES

Ok, I'm a HUGE fan of The Grinch! Like most kids my age, he was a huge part of every Christmas. I always revert back to that one vhs tape I had that we recorded every Christmas Special we could on and the Grinch was the opener.

Hersheys, I applaud you! Yeah, sure, they're just regular kisses with fancy packaging but they could've wrapped shit into these beautiful wrappers and I probably wouldn't complain. I love this random resurgence of Grinch stuff I general but for the man in green to have his own kiss with 7 different variations, I'm awe struck!

Another 10 out of 10! It's simple things like Grinch wrappers on classic kisses that make the season brightest.

M&MS WHITE CHOCOLATE PRETZEL SNOWBALLS

We aren't strangers to Pretzel M&Ms however, I do believe this is the first time we got them with white chocolate and fronted by orange with a winter cap and glasses fashioned out of a white chocolate coated pretzels.

I love the somewhat unconventional color scheme. I mean, I get it... snow, ice and shades between but with SO MUCH red and green stuff already out there, these are kind of a breath of fresh air! And they taste phenomenal. They perfectly encapsulate the white chocolate covered pretzel.

Another 10 out of 10! They nailed the Snowball M&Ms and the packaging is beautiful. All around, a great winter good item.

LITTLE DEBBIE CHRISTMAS TREE CAKE ICE CREAM

I cannot express how absolutely out of my mind I went when I saw this was a real thing! Little Debbie Christmas Cakes to me are the sure sign that the season is here. Sure, we get a crap load of Christmas stuff on shelves and in stores before Halloween is even officially spent but the moment a Christmas Tree cake hits the shelf, thats it! Christmas has arrived! And now we have fucking ice cream?!

I have to start this with the packaging which is equally as beautiful as your typical Christmas Little Deb box art; all red and beautiful and usually involving a Santa doing Santa things. I don't usually save ice cream containers but... yeah, this one is for the books! The sight of red icing swirls and those classic green glass shard sugar crystals absolutely dazzle this vanilla ice cream. It does have all that and chunks of cake in the mix but all in all, it is just a fancy very vanilla ice cream with not a whole lot of flavor depth but I'm still in love with it 100%.

It's basic and simple but it's beautiful. I still would rather eat a snack cake; it's definitely not a shoe-in for the cakes themselves. Gotta go 8 out of 10.

REESES PEANUT BRITTLE BIG CUPS

New for 2021, I was pretty excited about these ones. I checked a Dollar General in my town back in late October for these, then went to Dollar Tree to find the potato chip ones and the cashier there told me they had the brittle flavored ones at the Dollar General in the next town. So, naturally, off I went immediately after work to 16 Dollar Generals until I got them.

I was under the impression they would have peanut brittle insides but they are just peanut brittle flavored with crunchy peanut butter inside. They're good but holy geez are they fucking sweet! I got through half of one and had to tap out. Now, these are the big cups so, possibly if I had just gotten the small ones they'd be a little easier going in small doses?

Anyways, I'm still giving this a 7. Unlike real peanut brittle, it won't be sending you to the dentist from breaking all of your teeth, at least. They're good and I can see a lot of people digging them but it was just too sweet for my taste. Maybe this is my one wrong way to eat a Reese's?

Well that's all for now folks! Just like Halloween this year, there are A LOT of great new Christmas junk food items and I'll be surprised if I get to all of them but we will surely try! Stay tuned for part 3 and, as always, thanks for reading!
