Welcome to a review of one of our favorite holiday junk foods of the season; Gingerbread Oreos! Gingerbread Oreos aren't necessarily new but have been updated. About 5 years ago, we were introduced to the original gingerbread Oreo which consisted of golden wafers and gingerbread flavored creme. The new gingerbread Oreo comes in a gingerbread flavored cookie with creme dressed in red sugar sprinkles. While I didn't get a chance to try the OG, I'm not even mad; these already seem immensely improved upon and ultimately better to me. I don't know what kind of designs the OG might have had but these include 5 different holiday designs and that makes a difference to people who like Christmas designs on their food... aka me.

Confession time, I really don't care for actual gingerbread cookies; or, at least, I haven't found any that I personally enjoyed. I feel like I blame it all on the texture. Are all gingerbread cookies about as hard as cement? That's how I remember them being. I love the flavors, love the smell that fills the house when a fresh batch is being baked but each time I remember trying real gingerbread cookies always ended in disappointment. Hopefully, Oreo can help me out a bit.

Right away upon opening the package you get a sweet ginger and cinnamon blast to the face portal. It makes you feel warm, cozy and Christmas-y all over! You could probably put gingerbread Oreos in place of your favorite Yankee holiday candle.

The flavor isn't just as potent as the smell would lead you to believe. It's extremely close but they're for sure 100% delicious. You get a little ginger, a little cinnamon, a bit of sweetness from the creme and a nice bit of crunch from the sprinkles hiding in within it.

All in all, I'm giving the new Gingerbread Oreos a 9 out of 10. The flavor is perfect and the textures are on point, especially the sprinkles in the frosting making each bite interesting. I'd have absolutely no problem buying them again and again each holiday season. I found these at Wal-Mart but they've been spotted at most stores wherever Oreos are sold. Thanks for reading!
