Subscriptions seem to be relatively popular now days. From boxes, to podcasts, to fan club memberships... there is something for everyone in just about any form imaginable. And, for people like me who eat that type of shit up, it's great news (maybe not for the wallet.... sorry wallet!) We're going to delve into a different subscription item each month and review the contents/benefits of each and let you good people know how we feel about said items/benefits. And, also, you can more than likely form your own opinions if you're unimpressed with ours. Disclaimer: to whom it may concern, these items are PURCHASED and not sent to us free.

I couldn't think of anything better to kick this series off than with Dinosaur Dracula’s monthly funpacks! Anyone that follows us on any platform online knows we are huge fans of what Matt does, and I personally couldn't wait to finally purchase one of these things. I held off on last month’s funpack which contained the Hostess Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Pies sticker collection (no joke, those alone basically paid for the whole box and some) and believe me, I've been kicking myself ever since.

This is the August funpack which is said to be the first of three Halloween funpacks for this years spooky season. That's right, not one or two but THREE Halloween themed funpacks for the year. Halloween fans rejoice! Before opening, the package is very secure, taped down perfectly and USPS did a fine job of not throwing it around and stomping on it which is very much appreciated. Upon opening the package, its stuffed with a sheet of packing paper (OOOO PURPLE!) to keep the contents from tossing around and its 100% effective.

On to the contents! These aren't mystery boxes (aside from a few items that are picked at random) so, as with most boxes, we know what we're receiving before we purchase. As soon as I saw the contents on Dino Dracs website for this funpack, I immediately jumped on it!

I'll start with what I believe is arguably the MVP of Halloween candy for 2019.... Kool-Aid’s Ghoul-Aid Popping Candy! Instant buy! These are at Dollar Tree stores. So far, the ones near me haven't displayed them yet so I'm extra excited for these! We received a whole pack of 3 sleeves of popping candy. So, eat some and save one for your Kool-Aid collection!

Next, we have another candy item; fun sized Zombie Skittles! If you've followed us for a bit now, you may have seen my review for these beautiful disgusting bastards. If not, click here to read all about it! They're delicious aside from the ones purposefully made to taste disgusting.

Up next, we have a whole gang of unopened cards! 6 packs of cards including Wacky Packages, Gross Out, Evil Ernie, Street Fighter the Movie, Fantastic 4 Movie Celz, and Silly CD Trading Cards! These are all unopened packs that all came rubber banded together. One pack of cards is great but six completely different types of trading cards? Trading cards might not be your cup of tea but I'm willing to bet you'll get at least one pack that truly interests you (I'm personally stoked on all of these beauties).

Our next spooky item, or items I should say, are Burger Kings Beetlejuice kids meal toys from 1990! I'm a huge fan of Beetlejuice and old fast food toys, and these happen to be things I've never owned as a kid as I was a whole year old when they debuted. So again, very happy with these items! We got two figures still in original packaging. They're double sided figures so perhaps it counts as four figures? Either way, both have Beetlejuice on them ; one has Lydia and the other has a sweet Sandworm.

The next item we have is a Critics Choice Horror Classics Double Feature DVD. This thing is brand new in sealed sleeve. This is one of those items that is randomly picked between different DVDs that were available. The one I received has Carnival of Souls starring Candice Hilligoss, White Zombie starring Bela Legosi and also has a bonus Casper the Friendly Ghost cartoon episode. I've never seen either of these films before and, depending on which episode of Casper it is, I've probably never seen the cartoon episode either. This will make for a fun rainy fall day in with a big bowl of fresh popcorn or Halloween candy and my finest smelling pumpkin spice scented candle for sure!

The second randomly picked item are sweet Halloween Stickies sticker sheets by American Greetings! These look fairly old, though I couldn't find a date on them. This was actually the one I was hoping to get in the bunch he had to select from, so... score for me! There's four sheets included and they're all the same. These remind me of the stickers my mom use to plaster on all of our family photo albums and scrap books back in the day. Very cool!

These last few items I'd like to group together, as they are all things that I believe Matt produced himself and I also believe each box for every month comes with these types of items. We have the August 2019 funpack 5x7 mini poster which features a collection of screenshots of vintage spooky/Halloween commercials! I can spot a couple Halloween hotline number commercials, a Halloween Fruity Pebbles commercial as well as Frankenberry, the Ghostbusters Ghost Zapper commercial, Garfield's Halloween Adventure pre movie commercial.... very awesome little poster! We also get 3 stickers; one that is a cartoony Dinosaur Dracula with a sweet 80's design in the background and the other two (one which is actually stuck on the inside of the box) have a skeleton holding a Pepsi-Cola drink cup! The last self produced items are, in my opinion, the best items in the box; two notes by the man himself (and one is even initialed in sharpie in the bottom corner)! One is a Funpack Newsletter and the other is a 2019 Halloween Essay! If you're anything like me, as soon as I get a notification that there is a new post, podcast or article, it's a reflex to drop what I'm doing and read, watch, or listen to whatever new material it might be. So, this is just another way to enjoy that. Not only that but, this content is also limited to the select few people who buy the funpacks. I absolutely cannot and will not share these with you. If you'd like to read them, do your part to support Dino Drac and buy a box for yourself to enjoy! These boxes, from what is said on the website, help Matt keep the site going, so if you enjoy the content on Dinosaur Dracula, you could actively help to keep it going by purchasing one of these funpacks (go you!!!).

The Countdown returns, August 30th at 9PM.

The Breakdown: These funpacks come to a total of $25 with shipping included (so, I assume like $20 with $5 shipping give or take). We got 3 sleeves of newly popular Ghoul-Aid popping candy (before most stores even got them out for display), 2 packs of Zombie Skittles, 6 unopened packs of assorted trading cards, 2 unopened Beetlejuice Burger King kids meal figures, 4 vintage sheets of Halloween stickies, a sealed DVD with 2 full length films plus a cartoon, and a bunch of really cool self produced stickers, newsletters/essays (one initialed by Matt) that no one else gets to read, and an awesome Halloween mini poster..... Money. Well. Spent. You can cancel at anytime if you feel like purchasing just one. The payments are automatic (and only through Paypal which to me is completely understandable), so as long as you're enrolled, you'll get one funpack every month. The only con I can find to this at all is that it's not available to anyone outside of the US (I assume the shipping more than likely gets ridiculous). It showed up at my house quickly so, no worries about waiting the next month for the previous months box. The items seem to be consistent each month though, some months, they might be extra amazing. There was one that included, as mentioned above, authentic Turtle Pie stickers! Another funpack included a sweet 7UP "Spot" magnet! There was also a funpack that consisted of 4 vintage magazines. They sell out quickly, so if one pops up that you really like, jump on it fast or you'll miss out! And the most important of all, this purchase helps support the future of Dinosaur Dracula! What more could you really ask for? All in all, if there was one subscription box out of the endless list of boxes available that I'd permanently subscribe to, it'd undoubtedly be to Dino Drac Funpacks!

I hope you enjoyed our first Subscription Review! I hope to have a different subscription to write about each month for your viewing pleasure, so, stay tuned!
