With yet another sugar cookie review for 2020, I bring you the Sugar Cookie flavored Pez candies. Pez is one of those things that I’m surprised still exists today but they keep pumping them out. I have to admit, I was more stoked about just finding these than I was with trying them as I missed out on them the past couple of years. While I enjoy Pez, I really don’t think that “sugar cookie” will translate well in Pez candy form. Let's see if I'm wrong!
After purchasing the only sugar cookie candy I could find in this gingerbread man Pez dispenser, I ended up finding a set that just had the sugar cookie candies in them and no other flavors; that’s strike one. It’s been years since I’ve had any Pez candy so of course I have to refresh my memory. The grape was always my favorite and as far as I can tell, it still is. Orange isn’t so bad either.
Onto the main event…. I’m not even sure what to expect. Will they be vanilla? Will they nail that classic sugar cookie flavor? Will they just completely fuck this whole thing up? To keep this short, sugar cookie flavor is nowhere to be found. To me, it tastes like a regular Pez candy with no flavor at all, just a strange sweet tartness, almost like a Smarty. I thought at one moment I had a slight hint of vanilla but it quickly washed away. So, not great but not super disgusting. Just kind of a dud overall that left little to be enjoyed.
I assumed out of all the sugar cookie things I did find this year that these would definitely be the bottom of the bunch. I’m giving these a 2 out of 10. They’re not gross, they’re just… not good. Leave these out for Santa if you enjoy finding actual poop in your stockings. Thanks for reading!
