1992 CRAYOLA COLLECTIBLE HOLIDAY TIN!

I've been to the local Goodwills at least a couple dozen times this season. While I did find a few really cool vintage holiday pieces in the mix, there was one in particular I felt was absolutely deserving of a stand alone blog entry; a sealed 1992 Crayola collectible holiday tin, complete with vintage Ames price tags!

Anyways, rummaging through peoples old belongings, I find this sealed Christmasy Crayola tin with a Christmas tree and a bear ornament advertised on the front and I've decided (after going back and forth about it several dozen times) to purchase and open it and share the innards with you!

I carefully ripped the front where the Ames stickers were because I'm keeping them. I have my reasons (mostly sentimental). I'm also keeping the paper advertising the bear for the same reasons. Once the paper cover is removed, we get a clear shot of the artwork on the front of the tin; two children and their pup doodling under the tree just days before Christmas (I'm assuming, as there are presents still wrapped under the tree behind them). I feel like we've all been there. As a matter of fact, I can remember a Christmas long ago, my sister received a Spryo Gyro Pen (the ones with the stencils) that made really cool spiral patterns. This was us one holiday morning moments after opening gifts.

Now, onto the contents; starting off with the bear ornament. This positively adorable bear resting atop his half cylindrical box of crayons is a real beaut! I'm unsure if the bear is pretending to be a drummer or an aircraft marshaller. I feel like I've owned this exact bear ornament before many Christmases ago but I’m not 100% sure. I'm just noticing now that the ornament is also featured in the artwork on the front of the tin.

The next item is this pamphlet with up to $4 in “Valuable Coupons.” One item I personally remember having aside from regular old crayons are the Washable Crazy Tip and Changeables Markers! Specifically with the Changeables, there was this one marker that didn’t do anything until you colored with it over already laid down marker and it would kinda bleed into that color. If you colored in a yellow marker the white marker would change red wherever you mark. Unfortunately, all of these expired in 93. It’s a shame, I can’t think of any time that I don’t need color changing markers.

Last but not least, we have a full, extra crispy, sealed pack of 64 crayons, complete with a crayon sharpener in the back. This untouched beautiful box of crayons is absolutely too pretty to open so I decided not to break the seal. And the smell is just breathtaking! It practically fills the air in my entire house. I’m not even mad about it; I don’t mean to sound like the kid that sniffed markers all day but I could legit smell crayons all day long. I want one of these set in every room in my house; think of it as a replacement for wax warmers. There are few things that can stop me in my tracks and take me back with just a small whiff and crayons are definitely one of them.

What’s more to say? My house smells like crayons now and I have an awesome new ornament to put on my tree. This little present to myself was completely worth it. I hope you enjoyed and thanks for reading!
