THE BIGGEST YEAR FOR HERSHEY'S OR WHAT?
HERSHEYS 2020 HALLOWEEN CANDY LINEUP!
Grimey
2020 should be remembered as the year that Hershey’s single handedly tried to save the world with Halloween candy. A deed that can only be rewarded properly by monumental stone engravings, Hershey’s released not 1, not 2, fuck.... not even 3 but 4 brand new Halloween themed candies in one season! Kind of a big deal. And I'm sure you've all seen them by now but here's one more chance to see yet another foodie/Halloweenie obsessed blogger to gush about them.
REESES FRANKEN CUPS!
These were the first of the four I was able to find as early as the end of July. Franken Cups are mainly a typical chocolate Reese’s Cup with a green white chocolate bottom and packaging that features electrodes and electricity. I like the idea of the packaging but, if I'm being honest, Cheetos Bag of Bones did it better. It's very similar but Cheetos took it over the top in all the right ways.
So, the idea is that the Franken Cup is Frankenstein’s monsters head. Do they taste any different from a regular Reese’s? Mostly not. I say mostly because I think I can make out the white chocolate a bit from the milk chocolate. White chocolate Reese’s hit just a little different (in a good way) and I'd like to think I trained myself to tell the difference.
VAMPIRE KISSES!
I cannot express enough how beautiful these are. From the packaging with the Kiss doing its best Dracula impression down to the taste of the product itself. While the taste of the strawberry gel inside is relatively light, it's delicious; sort of like a Halloween makeover on a cordial cherry. I'm not a fan of strawberry and chocolate combined if I'm being honest, but these seem to hit the spot. While the taste is good, the real prize is on the inside. The gel isn't just sorta red; It's the most vibrant red gel I think I've ever seen from a candy! Hershey’s made candy gore and I'm here for it.
WITCHS BREW KIT KATS!
Sporting an adorable green witch with purple wrappers, Witchs Brew Kit Kats are of the white chocolate variety but are Marshmallow flavored with this sick pale green colored creme. The marshmallow flavor is very nice. With the crunchiness of the wafers, you really get this strong Rice Krispy Treat vibe to it. They're just sweet enough to keep eating all season long. As a matter of fact, I've gone through two bags already and I haven't shown any signs of stopping soon. What the fuck do Witches have to do with marshmallows? No one truly knows but they are here and we are happy to eat them!
COOKIES 'N' CREME FANGS!
Another beautiful way to repackage an older product to make it fresh for the spooky season. I'm not sure why but I had such a hard time getting my hands on these. I spotted them back in early August at a Target. If it wasn't 80° out at that point, I would've grabbed them but the long drive home would've surely ruined them. Luckily, a friend of ours was kind enough to send them our way. I never really ate many regular cookies 'n' creme candy bars from Hershey’s so I don't know what to base this on but I don't think they could fit even one more cookie bit in these things. They went for absolute broke on these; like some ancient Aztec wall, you could barely fit a pin in between the cookie pieces.
In conclusion, while the world is on fire and upside down, Hershey’s has done all that they can to at least bring some spooky joy to the world for the Halloween season and we owe them a huge thank you! All of these, with the exception of the Fangs, were found at multiple stores including Rite Aid, Dollar General, Wal-Mart, Giant Eagle and Target. Get one bag of each if you feel fit, take a few pieces of each out for yourself and give the rest out to trick or treaters. Or just get fat. Thanks for reading!
