Let’s be honest, all of us almost thirty-somethings who religiously watched Slime Time Live every day after school wanted to do this with a big swig from the infamous Slime Fountain -

Unfortunately, Nickelodeon Studios has long since been renovated into the *checks notes* Blue Man Group Theater (why God, why) meaning that our sacred fountain is MIA. Lucky for us though, Rita’s Italian Ice has stepped up to let all of us 90s babies live out one of our more taboo fantasies. I present to you, the Nickelodeon Slime Sundae!

As soon as I heard about this promotion, I found the closest Rita’s location and started planning my mini road trip. I’ve been to Rita’s before, and I’ll admit I’m quite a fan of their frozen treats. Notice you haven’t caught me saying ice cream, and that’s because what you’re looking at ISN’T ice cream - it’s a soft serve frozen custard! I think that just means that they add eggs to the mix, but don’t quote me on that. All I know is that this stuff is to die for.

Before I go any further I’d like to mention that the Slime topping isn’t limited to just a sundae. If you ask, they’ll throw it on just about anything. They will NOT however just sell it to you straight up. I asked and they laughed me off. Not a joke, I want this stuff to live in the back of my fridge for the next 8 months while I inevitably forget I have it, and it turns into a gloopy, moldy abomination that I’ll eventually end up using anyways because I’m disgusting.

So, what does Slime taste like? Well in this case, it’s basically just a run of the mill marshmallow ice cream topping….but it’s green! It’s basically what I was expecting, and it was pretty damn delicious. The flavor isn’t going to blow your mind or anything, but was it ever really about the flavor? Hell no! Let’s be real - we’re all taking this trip to get a couple of decent shots to share on the ‘gram and maybe, just maybe, to give us an excuse to get out after a year of being locked away like Castle Freak.
